Homemade Carburetor Pilot jet removal tool

Post by Dairyguy »

I don’t know if this has been posted here before but I was looking for a way to adjust and remove the pilot jets on the Gold wing carburetor. I happen to run across a guy that made a tool with a bic pen. You basically disassemble the guts of the pen heat the end up with a lighter and when you start to see the end melt you remove the heat and stuff that pen into the hole where the pilot jet sets. Let it cool for about a minute then remove it. Check the fit a couple of times and then you may have to take an X-Acto knife and trim the extra material a little bit where the plastic bulges from the heat. That’s it then you have your tool made and I must say it works rather well. It’s amazing the information you can find on the inter-web :o :o :o
