Need a good GL1200 tech. in the Ohio area

Post by 2manywings »

I have a customer/friend in the Findley Ohio area that is having trouble finding a qualified person to work on his'86 GL1200SEi (fuel injected model) that I sold him many years ago. Due to being in recovery from a recent surgery, I'm not able to help him. It sounds like his main issue is fuel delivery related. It will start and run on ether, but not on its own. It also needs some brake work and a pair of tires. He wants to know that it will run on its own before he puts $$$ into the brakes and tires. This bike is in nice shape with a matching "California Sidecar". If he can't find someone locally to bring it back to life, he'd be willing to sell the whole rig at a very reasonable price. If you are able to help, please private message me with your contact info so I can call you. Thanks in advance for any help!

IF,
he can pull the carbs off the motor, he can ship them to Bear Steck and get guaranteed cleaning and tune up, ready to run when put back on the bike.

Bear has a lot of International customers who swear by his work, read the thread.

John; Not sure if you noticed that his bike has FI. Or maybe that service guy now services that, too?
I'm not so sure about an inner child, but I have an inner idiot that surfaces every now and then..

oops!

did not notice that, and no, Bear only works on Carburetors.
he is a Specialist at that, seems to be as good, or better than Pistol Pete was when he was working on carbs, he is retired now. I heard that his son has picked up and is continuing that work, but don't know his info.

someone said to use the same email address as his dad used.

How does one know if the fuel injector is in need of a rebuild? Seems to me you start at the gas cap and work your way down the line....
I'm selling good clean fresh hay. If you want some that's already passed through the horse, that comes a little cheaper!

The best advice on internet motorcycle repair forums comes from posting the wrong answer to your own question.

First thing I would do after checking for codes is check fuel pressure then attach a noid lite to the injector connector for proper electrical signal.
