My damn lawn tractor seized its engine again this weekend. After some pounding on the flywheel, I managed to get it free again. I drained the oil, which looked like black tar, and filled it again with fresh oil. I had only just changed the oil a month or so ago. I cranked it, got it running again, let it warm up for a few minutes, then stopped it and drained the oil again - it was still honey-clear. What the hell? So where is this black tar in the engine? I decided it must be up in the galleys, blocking the bearings, or something.
I filled the oil again. Thinking Seafoam might be able to fix this, I poured about 1/4 can of Seafoam into the oil, buttoned it up, and went out to mow my lawn.
1 1/2 hours later, I came back in and drained the oil. What was clean, honey-clear oil came out as gray sludgy muck. I refilled the oil, dumped more Seafoam in, and ran it again for about 10 minutes. Again it came out gray, although not so mucky. One last time, and the oil came out almost clean. I refilled it with oil one last time and left it.
I'm guessing there was a ton of sludge and crap in the engine that was just never being cleaned out, that the Seafoam dissolved and removed. I fully expect it to never seize on me again!

Re: Miracle Seafoam
I tried Seafoam on Abel (83 Aspencade) and it worked great. She used to idle warm at around 1100 RPM. Now she's down to about 980 RPM. And to top it off, on her good days, she'll start without the choke. I haven't tried it in the crank yet. But, I keep at least two cans on my garage shelf just in case. The stuff really, really works.

My lifters in my chevy truck were a knockin, I added 8 oz. of sea foam and it cleared right up.

I've heard people in Ontario say it's available at Canadian Tire. It's also available at Wal-Mart here in the US, as well as NAPA, so you might want to try both of those in Ontario.
