Carb clean solution

Post by Prlwng »

Ordering an ultrasonic carb cleaner. Will need proper solution for it. What works best? The ones on page are yellow and clear. Or, is there better stuff?

Got two sets to clean for 1100s.

in the past, working as an electronics technician,
I used Simple Green

cheap, and works good even with small carburetors if you let them sit in the tank for 24 hours or more.

Volatile carb cleaning fluids?
that would worry me a bit, one unknowing person walking in with a Cigarette, and boom!

I have used a cleaner/degreaser called Krud Kutter that works well. 50/50 mix. A little pricey at $20 a gallon but it does work. Ditto on the volatile solutions. The HF cleaner has a heater included so not good.

Are your carbs aluminum?
Keep in mind that Simple Green is BANNED around aircraft because it is corrosive to aluminum!

This is the stuff I like. Formulated for aluminum and engine parts. Sometimes hard to find locally, though.
