Are these 90° valve stems ok?
I got my new E4's over the week end. Counteract beads on the way. Will these valve stems be ok or do you guys recommend something else. Thanks.

You don't mention for which bike, and your profile doesn't show a Goldwing, so I can't say for sure. Some aftermarket angled stems do not give sufficient clearance to brake calipers on some bikes.Quick Cal wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 6:11 pm I got my new E4's over the week end. Those are fine, but I like the opposite mounting style, like these:

If TPMS is in your future, I would recommend T stems. Wingworld or cyclemax will have them.

T-Stems are okay but will not work with the front wheel of the GL1500.bstig60 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 08, 2021 7:23 pm If TPMS is in your future, I would recommend T stems. Wingworld or cyclemax will have them.

Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
I have them on my GL1100 but the first set i ordered from slamazon had a crack right in the middle of the bend. Sent em back and ordered from a different supplier. Those look really good just check for leaks from stem before full inflation perhaps? DO NOT buy the Ebay crap someone posted, pure junk but this one from Amazon is AWESOME ------- Show Chrome Accessories (5-802) 90 Degree Nickel Valve Stem
AVOID THIS ONE ---- QWORK 4Pcs Tyre Valve Stem, 90 Degree Angled Bolt-in Valve Stems for Car Motorcycle Tyre,Anti-Leakage UNLESS YOU LIKE DOING THE JOB TWICE.
Product says it fits GL1500/1800 but fits. It fits the 83 GL1100 Wheel (I have heard GL1200 wheels are the same mm hole) and I suspect it fits the comstar wheels but have not yet started on the 82 build. Tried to get my Shop Partner to put em on his 82 but he poo poo'ed it. I said to him one day you will WISH you had these..........but, in all fairness, he had a MC Shop install his tires and I think he was worried about messing up the balance or something.

My way of thinking is the metal is far superior to the rubber ones. Rubber tends to rot, and it would not be at all funny to be going 75 mph and have a rubber valve stem blow out. I threw all my rubber ones out because i had no idea how old they were.

I had these in my sports bike (before she got rid of me). They look really good mounted. Not sure about the fit in a Goldwing though.

Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
Those are the ones I put on my 1500 i over a year ago after I got it when I replaced the tires. Both front and rear wheels leak about 6 pounds of air every 3 months or so and exactly the same time and amount. I just hate them and even purchased the original rubber valve stems when I ever change the tires again. No brainer to put in, so how do both leak the same amount at the same time?

Make sure the Schrader valves inside them are threaded in completely, and make sure the rubber grommets, washers, and nuts are installed in the correct order and in the correct orientation. Tire shops don't pay attention to that as much as they should.

I do my own work. It was a no brainer to put in and I had the perfect just fit size and made it tight. Just makes no sense. Thanks.

I've been using https://www.kurveygirl.com/shop/index.php
No - NOT that kind of sight.
Have been using her valve stems (the inexpensive chrome ones) for going on 20 years with NEVER an issue.
Great products and you help a small business.

Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
clicked on the link and found nothing. I hate my small metal valve stem, but they leak too much. I've always done my own mechanical work and it doesn't take brains to instal tire valve stem. It was a perfect fit into the hole and I snugged them down. Strange that they both leak the same amount at the same time. It's possessed.
Thanks.

Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
Mine did not thread in. It was a just right slide in fit. Can't remember what side the "O" ring went on though. But I snugged them both up. Just annoying. If I knew how to fix them, I would get those clamps from home depot and collapse the tires on the rims and fix them that way. I still have lots of wear left.tamathumper wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 6:52 am Make sure the Schrader valves inside them are threaded in completely, and make sure the rubber grommets, washers, and nuts are installed in the correct order and in the correct orientation. Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
With a little soapy water and a sponge you can easily check if they are leaking. Not saying you are wrong. I didn’t have an issue in my sports bike but it is a totally different rim.Tim 1956 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 6:24 am Those are the ones I put on my 1500 i over a year ago after I got it when I replaced the tires. Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
I tried to copy the comment about it does not work on 88-2000 goldwing 1500 because of the raised part of the rim for the rubber valve stems that have that plastic holder notch. It says it would have to be modified or ground down. It all fit and looked fine to me. losing 6 pounds in 3+ months you would not be able to detect that small of a leak.
Thanks.

I can't really remember now why you had to grind them. But I did mine ever so slightly. I don't regret doing it. You can't even tell.
But I think it was so it would seat down all the way. Are this the ones you used and are leaking? If so, if you didn't grind that may be your problem. Just guessing at this point.

Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
I echo a previous post about considering T stems to add the future possibility of after market TPMS caps.
But regardless of which valve stem you have, it is a major PITA if they fail while you are on a road trip. I carry these emergency valve stems that can be installed without wheel removal… you just need to get rid of the old one. Rubber mounted ones are easy, just cut it off and live with a lump of rubber inside the wheel until you have time to fix it proper. Anyways, I don’t leave home without these.

Are you sure it's the stems (or valves) that are leaking? Are you seeing bubbles if you put soapy water on them?Tim 1956 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 6:24 am Those are the ones I put on my 1500 i over a year ago after I got it when I replaced the tires. Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
I checked the valve stems about an hour ago and the front tire does not appear to be rubbing the metal valve stem. It is sitting flush all the way around on the rim and not touching that raised part. Just so strange. Thanks for the idea. I always put in the most recommended air pressure for the tires and mine is 42 psi. But it takes a few months to get to 36 or 37 and that is when I usually increase it again. It would probably take 6 months to get 10 pounds low and that might still be safe at 32. Don't know, and not trying.Quick Cal wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 10:21 amTim 1956 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 10:05 am I tried to copy the comment about it does not work on 88-2000 goldwing 1500 because of the raised part of the rim for the rubber valve stems that have that plastic holder notch.
