engine smoke
If i put the bike on side kick stand and let it set for about a week-when i start the bike it smokes when started- if i put the bike on center stand and let it set a week-then start the bike it doesn't smoke at all, any idea why-thanks Bob

This is normal operation for a horizontally-opposed motorcycle engine. When it's left on the sidestand, gravity causes the oil to rest up against the bottom of the pistons on the left side. The oil gradually seeps past the rings and into the cylinders after it's left sitting on the sidestand for some time. When you start it up, that oil is burned off, causing the smoke to come out of the left exhaust.
The older the bike, and looser the tolerances on the cylinder/rings, the more oil will seep past, and the more smoke you will see.
So nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on your oil level and top it up when required.
