My gl1100 is freshly rebuilt and runs great,AND my gl1200 is finally road worthy.
Here's what I noticed.
gl1100 likes to roll the throttle and pull steady.Snap the throttle wide open and it still pulls slow and steady.1500 through 5000 rpm
gl1200 ,roll the throttle and it reacts just like the 1100 BUT,snap the throttle wide open and it surprised me on how fast it climbed in rpm.
I haven't measured it ,but it seems to get through 2 gears a lot quicker than the 1100.
The "G"force seems to occur much quicker.
Yes,carbs cleaned and synced on both by me.The only thing I haven't verified yet is timing and vacuum advance.

Re: Accelerating difference gl1100 and gl1200
I'm told that the 1200 has quicker roll on times than the 1100 but the 1100 I used to own and bought new was no slouch in the acceleration department except in 5th gear. You do know that 5th gear on the 83 is geared higher than the other 1100s? It is considered an overdrive for fuel economy back when the speed limit was 55mph.

Re: Accelerating difference gl1100 and gl1200
I think I'll time it .1 gear,stop to 6000rpm.the 1100 has 350 miles on a full rebuild,the 1200 has 110k miles.

Re: Accelerating difference gl1100 and gl1200
The 1100 is much slower (0-grin) than the 1200. The results.
Finally got to do a vacuum test on the 1100.The vacuum advance is my first suspect causing poor throttle response from 1500-3500 rpm.
I pulled the hose and watched the gauge.
At 1000 rpm 0" vacuum
1500 rpm a bit of flutter around 1"
2000 rpm settled at 2.5"
3000 rpm holds near 4"
All and all I think the source is OK ...Then I pulled a vacuum on the canister.Nope,It leaks BAD.Well here's your sign.I've got a spare I'll check and replace.
