Heat resistent paint

Post by TruusjeTurbo »

To do some repainting (housing of the thermo sensor switch, oil filter and engine front cover) I cannot find heat resistent paint (up to 500 or 600°C) in concrete gray (RAL 7023) on the web (only for radiators till 80°C). Although I can order industrial from 200 liters (approx. 50 gallons) but 500 or 750 milliliters is enough ;). Rust-oleum and MoTip have greys but not the concrete gray (Ral 7023). Hammerite has grays but cannot find the specific Ral indication. Is up to 500 or 600°C a necessity? Somebody tips?

I'm sure you know that paint is like a layer of insulation.
Hammerite is thicker so a little more insulation.
Color black dissipates heat best, in shade.

. .
When I do one thing, I'll side-step a little & learn few more things.

I don't think you need hot paint if you're not near the exhaust or heads.

That area should never be much over 120°C and probably stays well under 100°C most of the time. I would guess that your radiator 80°C paint would do the job.
