My simple tire change has turned into needing a final drive and flange.

I've always used what core was there.
Only once did a ceramic bead stick in the valve tube but a 14g house wire pushed it in from the outside.

The splines are shot on both the final drive side and the flange. I also need the rubber dampeners and bushings. This is gonna cost.

Is this the part of the inner fender that rubs? Mine is actually missing.

The valve cores with filters in them are longer, and don't fit into the curved valve stems on GL1500's and GL1800's, so I always just kept the original cores in the stems. I will give the tire a quick blast of air with a compressor before checking the pressure. That will blow any beads out of the valve stem - otherwise those beads can get caught in the valve core and stick it open when you check pressure, which will then deflate the tire!

I can't remember now. But on my last 1500 I had the curvy girl valve stem. Seems like the filters worked, maybe?

But on THIS 96 I'm not sure what stems are on it. I'll have to go look. But I know it has the tpms on them. Will that be an issue with the beads?

Yes, and the 5 I have done this with, all 5 opened. The brand I got (don't remember what it was) tells you to do it this way as an option of trying to fill it through the valve.
When I removed the tire, there were no signs of the plastic bag in there.

I use the Curvy Girl stems also, no issue with longer cores.
Last used but near new rim & tire combo I picked up had the short angled
stem, left it since it was JUST FINE but will change it when replacing the tire.
