I bought a walmart battery for my 81, just look up the info in the battery book for the size. On my 2000 the PO put in a Yuasa a month before i bought it.
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

Wal-Mart isn't really known for having the best quality batteries, particularly in terms of longevity. I've been using NAPA batteries in my 1100 for years with no complaints. If you spend a few extra dollars, you can get an AGM battery that will last longer, give you better cranking, and is more resistant to vibration.

This is a bit ghetto but in a search for a suitable battery for my 1200 I was restoring,I new it would be 6 months before I really needed a new one.Soooo for a temporary fix,(i'm embarrassed to say) I actually used a riding lawnmower battery in the un-used saddle bag.Just to get it going you understand.A couple of large wires and it got the testing done.Well that was last year,it's still there.Cranks that 1200 just fine and has a great reserve.Out of site, out of mind. :D

Funny you should ask, I just bought one today. It is a Yuasa YTX24HL-BS this is a AGM battery, this is a sealed maintainance free battery. Rated at 21 amp/hr.

Ride safe, Todd
