Almost new Winger w/ wheel bearing prob. (1200)

Post by gronk99 »

I've had my GL1200I for about 6mo. and 8kmi. now and the front wheel bearing is going out.
Consdering it's snowing right now and I store it in tarp garage, I'm thinking of trailering it to the nice warm USAF hobby shop for the job.
My question here: What are the bearing numbers? (or just dimensions) Would be nice to have them on hand before, and I'd rather use local suppliers.

The GL1200 (and the GL1100) use two 6302-2RS bearings for the front wheel. They're standard bearings and are available from many suppliers. They are 12x37x12: inner diameter is 12mm, outer diameter is 37mm, and the width is 12mm. I've heard some people say they need to be EMQ (electric motor quality) to handle the wheel rotation speeds, but I don't know if that is actually true or not.

The OEM bearings have one sealed side, and the inner side is open, to be packed with grease. I put sealed bearings in my wheels when I replaced mine.

Thanks for the size info., the EMQ detail has me going Hmm?.
How fast do these people say the front wheel is turning?

I went and measured a 130/90-17 tire and got a dia. of 26" (uninflated).
IF my math is right it works out to 1553 @ 120mph.
