Air Deflector Model Comparison?

Post by Pigasus »

I'm looking at ordering air deflectors for my '85 LTD, and it looks like the current choices are few for the 1200s. From what I can tell, the main offerings are by either Baker Built or Add On. The BB Air Wings are roughly double the cost of the Add On units; does the higher price tag reflect better quality materials and workmanship? That is often the case, but not always, and I don't have the luxury of seeing them in person to form an opinion.

I live in a climate that has some pretty wide daily temperature extremes, and I can envision myself wanting to change the deflectors frequently -- pushing air away in the morning, pulling it onto me later in the day, pushing away again later in the evening. With that in mind, it seems like the hardware would need to be sturdy and easy to adjust. I wouldn't mind paying more if the pricey ones would last longer and be frustration-free, but I don't have money to burn, either. ;)

I'd sure appreciate feedback from anyone who has experience with these. Thanks!

I can't give you a direct comparison, but I got these http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/2614 ... deflectors last year and they've worked out just fine. I use them just as you described: Close 'em up on cool mornings, open them during the day. Worth every penny.

Thanks, I had been noticing those as well. I believe those are Add On. I'd previously seen the buyers' comments about them and was concerned that they might not be the best hardware arrangement. Now I notice that the negative ("-ish" ;) ) comments are at least a couple of years old. I wonder if they changed the design of them since those were written?
