mini turn signals

Post by alaskabike »

I installed a set of mini turn signals but I can not get them to blink. They use very small bulbs and I have read on other tech sites that you need to use an electronic flasher to get them to blink. I have tried several blinkers but they still do not flash. Has anyone used the small turn signals and been able to get them to flash? or do I need to go back to the large bulb stock style? or not use any turn signals and use hand signals? thanks for any suggestions. This problem is on my 1979 GL1000. I am currently building a "babywing" CX 500 cafe racer and have the same problem with it.

Did you try an electronic turn signal flasher?

I put led turn signals on my 1980 wing and had to use an electronic flasher to make the signals work. No problems now.

Thanks for the suggestion, however I did try that and still do not get a flash. Did you use a special electronic flasher or something from an auto parts store? I read that someone stated you needed to put a resister in the system do get enough resistance to make the bulb flash.

An electronis flasher ,availible at any auto parts store is the one you want. You do not need a resistor with it. Just plug it in and if everything else is OK it will flash any 12V light you hook up to it.
