Post by mr.ngs »

Anybody know if there's a replacement top part to the antenna? One for sale? Just need the top thin piece.

I've never been able to find one. I ended up just buying a whole new antenna.

Twice. :)

Yeah, I know....I just need the top piece that everybody breaks in their garage door - or whatever. I'm on a mission not to spend 50 bucks for a damn thin piece of metal.

I guess it's self punishment to go without it until I find it, because I'll be damned if I break it again and have to spend another 50 bucks for the whole unit.

I cut 1" off, it clears in the garage and still sounds good.
I like to spend my money on my terms.

That's fine if it's not a CB antenna. Cutting 1" off a CB antenna will totally ruin the SWR of the antenna. With an inch short antenna, at best your transmitted signal will be extremely weak, at worst you could actually damage your CB when you transmit.

My antenna had to be adjusted to within about 1/16" to get the SWR just right. Changing that by an inch would make it unusable.

See: How to tune your CB antenna SWR

I will soon have them for sale. Working on a deal right now. I know this is a common problem.

Not having a CB I just assumed the radio, which can be altered slightly.
