help us with our parts question

Post by myra10 »

I need some quick advice! I am really hoping there is someone here who can help me out. I am here as a favor to my husband, Tony, who is totally computer illiterate. He is the new owner of a Goldwing and he really wants to fix it up and make it rideable. In order to get it to operate, he needs to get some certain parts for it. We want to know if anyone has ever bought parts online. Is it a good idea? We were searching last night and came across this motorcycle parts place but since we have never bought anything online, we were hoping to get a review from someone who has. If you have any recommendations or advice please let me know! He wants to get the project started ASAP. Thanks from Mya and Tony

Myra10,

First thing, if the Goldwing is a 1987, it is a 1200 not an 1100. As far as buying online I have never had a problem. There are a couple of online dealers that I would not buy from but if you find one you want to try first do a search on this site for the name and if anyone has dealt with them before you will probably find some information on them. You can also ask about any supplier in a post and you will probably hear from someone who has dealt with them before.

As far as ChromeWorld goes i have not dealt with them but also have not heard anything bad about them either. The key is to shop around prices will be different with different sellers. For the very hard to get parts your only option is to check here, and other sites, to see if someone has the part you are looking for or go to ebay and get one from a used parts dealer.

If you need further help with the NTY Goldwing just ask here a lot of good advice and some very well written How-To articles on this site.

myra10 One place I have used is cyclemax they have always done a good job for me fast service and good prices,I like that they will e-mail me fast to tell me that my order and parts are one the way. There in Ohio and your in Indy should get your orders fast also if you post a question about a part on here or in the parts for sale you should get a good response. And we do love to see pics of your bike, Good Luck Hal

Heres a list of Goldwing oriented sellers that I found some years ago. It does pay to shop around for farkles. Occassionally you find a deal on some. If youre looking for OEM parts Cyclemax is good,HDL and Bike Bandit also.

I have bought a lot of parts off of ebay, a lot of parts, set up a paypal account and I don't care much for bidding on stuff, I usually go the Buy it Now route...Never ever had a problem, I bought from many dealers on line as well, never an issue...Tire's lot's of tires on line..You can get most stuff there at the dealer too....Guy's will warn you to stay away from Saber Cycles, parts are supposed to be unsatifactory there, I cannot say for myself as I have never dealt with them, I tried once but I couldnt even get thru to speak to someone.. but that's what's all over the web..Upset and unsatisfied customers....Oh, by the way, tell your husband that if a dumbass like me can use the computer he sure can learn....I know where he's at right now and I was there a few years back I couldn't even turn one on, I couldn't stand the fact that my 6 year old knew more than I did about computers... now I can post a photo and a video...He's missing out on ebay, craigslist, and all the car sites, online........ You may need to help him a bet at first...I did it he can get it..
