I know off subject again-- Wing Admin got me curious with--"The reason it wasn't added was cost. A $20, CNC-milled hunk of aluminum, added to every single bike, over millions of bikes, is a big chunk of money."-- any idea of just how many GW's have been produced over the yrs? How many still on the road? Inquiring minds.... :?:

This is an old thread, but it's intriguing - our recently purchased 1994 GL1500SE sidecar has significant steering "wobble" at low speeds - 1st and 2nd gear, parking lot speeds. The handlebars almost exhibit "tank slapping" wobble, especially if the road surface is less than smooth. On our old Ural sidecar it had a steering damper that eliminated such wobble, and I've assumed the wobble is just something inherent to sidecar rigs. Now I'm wondering if it can be reduced, or eliminated, with this fork brace thing. At cruising speeds the bike is stable, and with a sidecar the steering is completely different than a 2-wheeled ride so I can't compare the handling very easily but I'm wondering if I should spend the money to see if the brace helps...

only way to find out is to install one, made a big difference on my 96, even when upgrading from a super brace.

Hello everyone,
I've been reading this website from few years and now I registered to leave comment in this thread.
- in one word : OMG!!
My 1995 GL 1500 SE got a new life due to installed this brace.
Why did I ride a few years without this great thing? God knows only.
I made the testing ride yesterday afternoon and I did not want to come back home.
Smooth and easy ride and cornering,no wobbling like before.
My ride is now very comfortable and I feel more safe of myself on the road.
Great product, great service and easy install ( I did not need to loose of axle bolt - only 4 pinch ones).
Thanks wingadmin and thanks Linda for finally making my ride as should be on GL 1500.
The shifter pivot is next thing on my list..

Greetings from Poland and sorry for my English.

Welcome Gabriel from Poland. I agree with the blackwing brace, awesome improvement in the stability and handling. You will like the shifter brace also.

Black Wing fork brace

Post by Pgrgunny » Wed Dec 06, 2017 2:08 am

Last weekend I finally got around to installing a Black Wing fork brace. When I removed the cover I found a different bace had already been installed by a former owner (I’m the third owner).
I removed it and compared it to the Black Wing Brace.
I liked the way that the Black Wing brace fit into the forks not just on top.
After installation I liked the way the cover fit flush with the fender. The other brace left a gap.
I aired up the front tire to 38 lbs and went for a test ride. I was amazed at the improvement.
I was making controlled turns easily scraping the pegs. And there was no fork wobble.
I highly recommend this product.

Blackwing Fork Brace

Post by shomann » Sun Mar 18, 2018 10:09 pm

I know this is old news for many of you who have added this mod long ago, but I rode today for the first time after installing the Blackwing Fork Brace. Installation was easy. The braces design and precision fit is superb. It's easy to see how this locks the two sides together really tight with no movement. A couple of light taps on each end with the plastic handle of a screwdriver and it felt locked in before installing the four screws.

Fantastic addition! Honda should have included this with their initial design. Immediately noticeable tighter, more stable front end at any speed. Better steering response. Much improved feel, comfort, stability over rough & bumpy roads. HIGHLY recommended if you haven't added it! :D
