Klím Induction Jacket

I have today off and was out running a couple errands on the bike, the local motorcycle shop, Cycle Barn, is just right there so why not stop in to kill a few minutes.

$289.10 later I was riding out wearing my new riding jacket. I was only going in to look at some warm weather gloves, my current pair is getting a little worn so I was being Mr. Smart rider and planning ahead . I was so smart that my smartness only cost me a little less than 300 dollars haha.

At any rate, I am really liking this jacket. It was on the 30% off clearance rack since it's last years model, originally $349.99 marked down to $264.99 plus tax of course. It breathes really well for such a sturdy, well built garment, it has D3O elbow, shoulder and back armor. And it is replacing my windbreaker jacket, hi-viz vest and elbow guards so suiting up is much easier now PLUS I'm better protected to boot.

I didn't realize how well my old windbreaker was doing its job at breaking the wind, I can tell I will be way more comfortable at hotter temps with this new jacket since the airflow through the gray mesh areas is so good. Very glad I talked myself into it.

For a hi-vis jacket I prefer orange rather than yellow. To me, the orange stands out better on my red GL1500, but then again I have some jackets of each. But that will larn you, fancy walking in to a MC shop not expecting to buy something else?

Lol yeah I should’ve know better. I don’t think I’ve ever seen orange hi-viz stuff in stock, heck they don’t have much in the yellow for that matter - everything seems to be all black and grays. That’s what the new model jacket that’s replacing the old model I bought is like, black and gray. I think my next favorite hi-viz color is green, but again you’d have to order something in with that color, I never see it in stock.

the Highest Visibility is the Lime Green/Yellow jackets with the highly reflective stripes on them.

that is what I always buy, much brighter, and more visible down the road at night than the Orange ones.

Lime green for me as well. And the "Brilliant Yellow" Shoei Neotec.

Klim makes very good gear, and pretty modestly priced, compared to Rukka and the like.

My last two jackets were TourMaster. I've been considering Olympia next, but I'll definitely add Klim to the mix.

I have been looking at these jackets also. What size did you get? I used the Klim "size wizard" on their website and it says I should get a 2x. Does your fit the way you expected?

I recently attended a Motorcycle Safety course called Rider Down led by our Fire Service. One section was dedicated to making yourself more visible.

One mention was that drivers have become overly conditioned to and therefore BLIND TO Hi-Vis yellow, as it appears just everywhere on a daily basis from emergency vehicles, to every Highway worker wearing a 'Hi-Vis' waitcoat. Apparently our brain therefore now accepts this colour as simply part of the normal landscape, and it no longer generates much if any psychological alert.

It was suggested that Vibrant Lime Green or Pink were much better colours, as they are still rare enough in a driver's daily experience, that they trigger a visual alarm to the brain.

All great, but I can't see myself wearing Hot Pink any time soon!

I actually thought exactly that the last time I was in England. It seems like pretty much every single person who works outside wears hi-vis yellow jackets or vests, and as a result, you start to ignore them, because they are literally EVERYWHERE.

Over here, it still stands out. You'll see some motorcyclists with it, maybe some road workers standing in traffic, police if they happen to be directing traffic, but that's about it.

Klim! When I was very young, my father told me that the word klim was German for milk and it was easy to remember because klim is milk spelt backwards.. I believed him, for years. Klim is a well known brand of American dried milk and was well known to soldiers in the Second World War.
