Mouse and rodent blocker
Just saw this ..honda 4019-2317 rodent tape. suppose to stop the little critters from chewing the wires. Available at all honda dealers (auto) and also mouse blocker tape (that's the name) both on amazon also. Interesting . might save the winter chewing up blues..

Re: Mouse and rodent blocker
wish that tape had been on our Pontiac Vibe,
the a/c compressor quit last summer.....
a lot of frustration finally chased it down to the wire harness where it "teed off" and dropped a 2 wire bundle down to the compressor's clutch.
that rodent had got inside the big wire loom and chewed up the small 18ga wires about two inches in both directions.....

I think that is a lot of hype,
the very first Review that I read on it states this:

Just replaced battery cable that had been wrapped in this. Mice ate right through tape. Also, discovered that they had eaten through a fuel injector harness wire that had been totally wrapped in this tape. At this point I cant see that this product does any good at all. Also, for the record I sprayed the inside of the engine compartment with some of the Rodent Defense Vehicle Wire Protection for Cars, RV's Tractors, Boats & more which can be found on Amazon. No effect. Some success using glue traps under hood.

Re: Mouse and rodent blocker
the 2nd review is a bit more favorable, but states that the roll is very small, more like a roll of 3M electrical tape.
that makes it way too expensive for me.
I think I will just mix Peppermint oil with Ghost Jalapeno peppers and just drip that on the wire looms.
The ghost pepper obliterates the jalapeño in terms of overall spiciness. Jalapeño peppers range from 2,500 to 8,000 on the Scoville scale, while ghost peppers (a.k.a. the Bhut Jolokia) weight in between 855,000 – 1,041,427 Scoville heat units.

Bought this for our new Scion that kept getting the wiring chewed through by rats/mice. After doing some research I discovered that the casing for the wiring in all newer model Toyotas and Scions is made with soy and smells a little like vanilla when warmed - a perfect rodent attractant. I also coupled it with some hot pepper spray on and around the plastic covered areas under the hood to cover the vanilla odor. Prior to the tape/spray the wiring in the car was chewed through almost completely in a single night twice in a 3 month span, both times requiring a tow and extensive repair. The last time we had to have the wiring replaced I had the service technician wrap all the exposed wiring with this tape as he did it. Since that time (almost a year ago now) we have not had an incident, so I'd say this is absolutely worth the purchase. I am also very careful to respray under the hood with the pepper spray every couple of months though because I expect that over time the heat of the engine will likely dry out the oil in this tape. One thing I would caution is that this is a much smaller roll of tape than you would expect. It's more like a standard roll of electrical tape than duct tape - if you plan to wrap all your wiring, buy 2.

the Ghost pepper has to stand aside,
there is another one that is almost twice as hot as that devil.

Re: Mouse and rodent blocker
FWIW at least in the automotive world (can't speak to the motorcycles) the insulation used in the wiring harnesses is a plant/vegetable based compound!!! The rodents love it; lost my 2007 Prius to them chewing through the engine wiring loom. Not certain when this change took place but seems to be fairly universal. If the vehicle is moved, even if it is returned to its starting position it disrupts the sent trails that are laid down and helps to prevent their setting up house keeping.

Re: Mouse and rodent blocker
After having my headlight wires on two different pickups chewed up. More than once, btw. Also two outside security cameras rendered inoperable from chewing. I started smearing a little habanero hot sauce on the wires. Solved the problem for the past year or so. This is both mice and squirrels.
