Canyon Dancer Handlebar Cup tiedown helper

Post by AZgl1800 »

I found an older laptop that has a picture of the handlebar harness that I am using on my bikes.... this is a very valuable thing to have, and I suggest everyone get one.
With this, it is not necessary to use the Triple Tree, and my Piaggio MP3 Scooter which does not have a Triple Tree to attach to, it is a Lifesaver.

The cups go over the ends of the Handlebars and protect the cables and wiring from getting tangled up and broken. I bought the 36" version so that it will work for the 1800 as well as the scooter. Makes no difference to get the longer one, as the straps just go thru the end cups and dangle down with the loops for the tiedown's hooks to catch into.

.Here is a good picture of the Piaggio where you can actually see the Canyon Dancer straps tied into the Heavy Tie Downs that hook to the Eyebolts on the floor.

Went out today and rode the little scoot for a while.

Took a picture of the hand grip so you can see how it fits over the ends of the handlebars.

I've got an old Canyon Dancer strap, before they put that plastic cap on them, and have been told by several people that they are bad for the bars because they put too much stress on them - do these plastic caps eliminate that complaint?

I don't agree with the stress on the bars.

I hauled all of my bikes in years past by snugging down on the handlebars.
until I got a Goldwing, then I started using the lower triple tree.

Here, with the front wheel in a chock, and the bike setting up straight, I am just snugging down on the Canyon Dancer straps enough to lower the front by about an inch.....

so far, no problems at all.
I don't buy the talk about the cups putting undo pressure on the grips...
that is from folks who have not used them.

I have used this strap several times for my Goldwings. I would note that when I used it on a friends scooter, the friction lock handlebars lowered during transit from the stress. No problems, as I saw the change in my rear view mirror, definitely a consideration.

my bike has risers on the handlebars, don't know how that would effect the stress situation, but thought I would comment on it.

I will take a look in about 3 weeks, when I load it up on the big trailer and tow it behind the Suburban....
going to Eureka Springs for our annual Midwest Meet 'n Greet there.
and if the Wx is over 80*F my goose cooks real fast, so I need Air Conditioning...
