Handy Motorcycle Lift Table SAM 1200

Post by FloridaBrent »

After going down the J&S Lift, Kendon Lift (Selling both now) and wanting something my Wife approves of ... I ordered and received a Handy Motorcycle Lift Table with Front Wheel Vice and 12 inch side panel extensions (For safe ride on ride off loading)

Not cheap (about $1900) and took a few months to get one but after an hour or so assembly it looks like I landed on something I should have gotten years ago. I likely with all some non slip tape to the surface for increased traction but outside of rechecking the fasteners and greasing the zerk fittings should be reliable and safer than Both the Kendon and J&S lifts.

Unboxing and rotating the table is likely a two person (Wife and I did it together and used a furniture floor dolly and hydraulic jack for placement in the garage) task so be warned it is shipped with the table leg side up.

I have a 6 gallon 150 psi compressor that works fine and you need a I/H style air nozzle to fit standard hoses.

Will post again after a few weeks use.

Very impressive. I like the fact it uses and air bag for the lifting mechanism. I have an air bag jack that I absolutely love.

Really a nice table. The best part is the smooth table vs those raised dimples (what ever they are called) especially when you get ready to put your bike up on the center stand. The bike slides a little when raising up and the stand will hang on those dimples and well it not pretty. Your side stand will hang also be sure in gear on side stand. nice table

I feel tempted to get one after reading your reviews about it. It seems like a high-quality product.

I cheated.

I didn't want to spend the money and the floorspace on a motorcycle-only lift, so I bought a used 6000-lb hydraulic car lift ($250), and put a Steelcase desk top ($5) on it when I want to lift a bike.

How do you like the wheel vice? I switched out the stock unit for a bigger unit (mode for on trailers). It helps keep the bike more secure (along with the straps) but it makes removing the front tire a PITA. I also picked up a wide-faced scissor jack as I no longer have a centre stand (on my Suzuki C50). I also agree that a smooth deck would be far better than the checker-plate one - and I wish the edge of mine was bent the other way - although it has saved my 10mm socket from rolling into another dimension.

use anti-skid paint instead of tape. the tape will lift, tear, and then the remnants will seem impossible to remove. if you use the paint, it is as simple as painting over the wear area. in a shop environment, i would have to paint mine each winter. it was an epoxy paint that you could also use on the floor. love that air bag! mine were the old style, with hydraulic rams, but they never gave any trouble.

Purchased my Handy #1500 B.O.B. lift, back in June of 2004.
Front extension, wheel vise, as well as side extensions.
Rear panel drops out for the rear tire change.
But no front take out panel.
Seems that came about at a later date.
With some assistance, i did once, back a bike onto the table.
P I T A backing it up, but nice to drive it off.
Great table, rated to lift 1500 lb, while most were at 1000 lb.

I have the older Handy hydraulic about 8 year now. Love it. I just could not bring myself to put the Wing up on a lift that I was not comfortable with. It's sturdy and reliable and gives me peace of mind to leave on overnight or for days. Local Honda shop has all Handy's and gave me the demo of their unit. The lifting is so smooth and straight. I also bought the side platforms. Very happy with it.

Purchased Handy's B O B lift twenty years ago.
The front extension with vise, & side extensions.
A great investment, only issue is.
There is no removable front plate like the rear for wheel removal.
Was not available when i bought the table

I'm sure that feature could be added without too much trouble.

With the side extensions, can you put a trike on the lift?

Measuring length and width of both items from specifications of both or a tape measure should get you in the ballpark.
