My home state!!! I want to come, but it's still about 2 hours from me (I live in northern panhandle, where it's not nearly as scenic). Our CMA state rally is in Canaan Valley each summer and the riding there is great. If coming from the north go across I-68 (amazing ride for an interstate), then catch US-219 South to Elkins. Very nice ride! So many good rides down in that part of the state. US-33 toward the VA border looks like a blacksnake!!! I really hope I can make it, but most of my vacation days are eaten by CMA events (Especially the week ride down to Arkansas/Oklahoma for our fall Changing of the Colors Rally).

I can recommend visiting the Greenbank observatory as well as the day trip on the Cass Railroad, which has an amazing view from the top where you can see for miles. The Durbin Rocket is another steam railroad in the area but not nearly as nice of a ride as Cass. You're also not far from Seneca Rocks on US-33. Amazing scenery and if you're into rock climbing, it's awesome (or so I'm told. I'm too old and chubby for that stuff).

If you go to: https://freemanmapstore.com/collections ... y-va-oh-tn they will send you a nice map of rides in that area. I picked one up at a travel center, but you can get one for free if you pay shipping.

Spoke with my brother, he is planning to attend again this year so we are also. Still a ways off and things can change but for now, the Look clan is riding in. Really enjoyed last years get together, after a rocky start, but lets do it again!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again. BlueThunder and I will be sharing a room and that is where the Bourbon will be flowing. LOL I have ridden in the Elkins area once before and it has some great routes. Be safe riding this summer so you can all make the ride in Elkins. See you there

I had family stuff come up that overlaps some of the dates of this trip so I just canceled my reservation at Hampton Inn just in case someone else wants to go and could not get a room. Room was a 2 Queen bed with Mountain views. Hopefully I will be able to make one of these rides before I have to give up motorcycles. Enjoy your trip!

Made my reservations today. Looking forward to seeing everyone after missing last year due to a crankcase position sensor failure. Better to have a failure in the garage than on the road.

I'll need a new set of tires after visiting the Three Twisted Sisters a few weeks ago. Those rough Texas roads really scrubbed the tread off my tires.

Hey Tim, great to see you have signed up for the 6th Gathering. We did miss you last year. Looking forward to some great riding. Blue Thunder (Brian), MIWinger51 (Al) and I made the trip to east Texas to eat BBQ, but did not get to ride the Twisted Sisters this time, maybe next time. We will try to wear those 'chicken strips' off those new tires for you in WV.

Last year, the group leaders had a particular GPS system they were able to feed the routes into. What is that GPS system? Not sure if I want to go that route or not, but looking at alternatives to basic Google maps and Waze.

Thanks!

I've been using a Garmin 2595LM for the last few years. It will accept the GPX files that BlueThunder, and MiWinger51 create. I also have a RAM mount that's made for it. I carry a few sandwich bags to cover it in case of rain (it's not water proof). I just picked up a couple more off eBay for about $40 each.

This is an informal get together so no vendors will be present, only riders. It is a great time so suggest you consider coming.

It may be early to throw this out, but a couple of restaurants and diners to consider while in Elkins - Scottie's (for breakfast, don't order 2 biscuits with gravy unless you are REALLY hungry! Also, they are small, so need to get there early), C.J. Maggies (which I think still has a back area for bigger parties), Beander's (which is a bar/grill), Smoke on the Water (big BBQ place, which is a mile or so out of town on 33). These are all on the "old side" of town, along with several others (these were the ones we gravitated to). Vintage is also a great place to eat, but may be a little upscale for our needs.

The Hampton is on the "new" side, with a lot of chain restaurants (Bob Evans, Applebee's, etc.) When my daughter was in D&E, we mainly stayed in the old town, where there was more hometown eateries. Note that some are very small, so having a full group at them would be tough (Beander's and CJ Maggies, and Smoke on The Water could handle a large group).

Some ideas as you are planning your trip!
