First serious trip of the season

Post by Nohands »

Well... First serious trip of the season, 7/4 - 7/5; conned the in-laws to take the Dogs. Going to make a run up the west coast of Michigan, stoping in Traverse City or Harbor Springs depending on how the wife's butt feels :) She has never rode that far on a bike in her life and it has been many years for me so we will see how we fare. Was planning on a full circumstance of the mitten, but, that may be more like a three day affaire. Should be able to hit a few sightseeing spots along the way.

Day 1...

Whittaker to Muskegon
 190 mi. 3.25 hr.

Muskegon to Travers City
150 mi. 4 hr.

(May stop in TC if journey has become weary.)

Travers City to Harbor Springs
80 mi. 2 hr

Day 2

Harbor Springs to Cross Village
20 mi. 1 hr. (M 119 tunnel of trees)

Cross Village to Frankenmuth
215 mi. 4 hr. (German Dinner)

Frankenmuth to Whittaker
95 mi. 1.75 hr.

Total 16 hr. drive time.

i just left the motor this morning with stoppes inthe capitol city, holland, south haven, and albion, just over 420 miles. if the weather is good and you make sure your wife is comfortable she will enjoy the ride. if you do like i did today she won't enjoy it much, i only stopped for gas and lunch

I have planned to stop at least every 2 hours to give her time to stretch legs and hydrate. They will be short stops that I planned into the trip. I hope to make some sightseeing stops and still be in either Traverse City or harbor Springs by Early evening. Should work out fine :D

May slightly chance plans. The GWRRA-MI Rally is I Midland this week, may alter route and check it out.

My wife found a cure for saddle butt ( though Goldwings have the most comfortable seating), PADDED PANTIES. She can sit a lot longer with less discomfort. I have yet to try them, but, it works for her, so why not?

Leaving at about 5am headed up to Traverse City. Just finished installing a Dual USB port and AUX Plug in left box. Took me longer to find somebody with small enough hands to attach connectors than it did to install

Attached GoPro helmet cam to left side mirror and plan on getting some video of trip...

Ride safe

It's been a while since trip, been very busy with work and such. I have video of M119 that should be posted this weekend. Trip was a blast and weather was awesome. I am maybe planning a trip to Deals Gap Oct 8-10 as I am in vacation that week. I think the weather is still fairly mild first half of Oct. fingers X.
