Tennessee to Florida
well guys and gals, 11 hours and counting. im leaving here, (Tennessee) at 7am on the first leg of my ride down to the Florida keys tomorrow morning. my first leg will take me from here, to Valdosta GA to stop for the night at a motel 6. Saturday morning i will be going to Orlando to visit SILVEREAGLE who is still in the hospital. after my visit with him i will be riding from Orlando to north lauderdale where i will be staying at a friends house which will be my "base camp" while im down in Florida. on Sunday, im going to ride down to the keys and i'll have my camera with me and hope to be able to upload some pics of my travels. i have everything packed up and loaded onto the bike so in the morning all i have to do is get on it and go.
once i get down to Valdosta and settled into my motel room i'll let ya'll know how im doing and how my bike is running with all the effort i put in it. i don't expect any problems, but after all it is a 32 year old bike. im just going to take my time and not "push" the bike. 65-68mph is fast enough. ive already done my "walk-around" the bike checking everything IE tire pressure, oil, radiator fluid level, shock and fork air, and everything is looking good.
i'll try to post a message in the morning before i leave, but if i don't, i'll message ya'll later in the day.
stuart.

'mornin ram, and everyone else:
its just me going. my wife cant handle that long of a ride on the bike, plus shes taking meds that she shouldn't be out in the heat and sun for very long. i wish she could come with me. i suppose she could drive down in the car if she wanted to and meet me down there.
well, its time for me to hit the road, i wanna get an earlier start to avoid some of the "rush hour" traffic, especially down in the Atlanta loop where traffic is a nightmare. i'll post more messages and hopefully some pics of my "adventures" later this morning/afternoon.
ya'll take care and i'll see ya's later.

Re: Tennessee to Florida
hey people:
i was officially on the interstate at 7am this morning, and with all my rest stops, fuel stops and stop for lunch, i checked into the valdosta GA motel at 4:55pm. my bike did excellent. i used $19.00 and some change which came out to roughly 10.5 gallons. i have NO complaints about that AT ALL. I'm not even down to Florida yet and im already sunburned lol. below is a quick pic of how burned i got just riding here. yeah, i know im fat, but that's just more of me to love
.
now its time to take a cold shower and get all this road dirt off me, take a swim in the motel's swimming pool, then go get some grub. my cooler holds 10lbs of ice and about 4 12 packs of sodas and I've already drank 1 12 pack just to keep myself hydrated.
when i see Armando tomorrow I'll give him all of your regards. I'll post a message in the morning before i leave here. i have to admit, this WiFi here sucks big time.
bye for now,
Stuart.

Not really the kind of pics that I asked for.
Some things can't be un-seen.

Besides, what happened to All the Gear, All the Time?

what "gear" are you talking about? all my stuff i have packed onto the bike? if that's what your asking about, I'll take pics of it all in the morning when i pack it all up again. right now i have everything in my room. i didn't want to leave anything on the bike overnight.

Re: Tennessee to Florida
well, i had to cut my vacation short. not only did my computer crap out, but having to fix it cost me a lot of $$$$. so much so that it put a dent into my vacation finances, plus i had to vacate the home where i was staying at due to other people being there and there wasn't enough room for me to stay. so i packed up my stuff, loaded everything back onto my bike and hit the road. i stopped in Orlando to see SILVEREAGLE and give him his other mirror i had ordered for him. he is home and is resting comfortably with only a little pain from his surgery. he'll be in better condition in another couple of months.
i left north lauderdale in a driving rain storm around 9am, and after stopping at SILVEREAGLE's in Orlando, i pulled into the motel in Valdosta GA at 10pm. I'm glad i had my rain suite windshield wiper and a new face shield for my helmet. the bike gave me a few problems on the way up. somehow the wires that are under the seat that go to the right parking/signal light worked its way loose and i lost my right rear turn signal. i was able to fix it, then a couple hundred miles later, my volt meter quit on me, so now i have no way of knowing what my bike's volts are. the meter lights up, but it doesn't read any volts. when i get home, since its still under warranty, I'm taking it back and getting a new one.
right now its time to take a shower and get some sleep so i can be up early to do the rest of my ride up to Tennessee in the morning
I'll post more once i get home tomorrow mid day.
niter's y'all.

Re: Tennessee to Florida
ok everyone, im back home. the bike did good. no problems with it and the fuel mileage was great. i only had to fill up 4 times, ($27.00) from Orlando to here in Tennessee. i arrived home at 5pm and had to wait for my wife to get home from her parents house because i couldn't get in. my house keys were inside the house
. i wanted to post some pics of my travels, but for reasons beyond my control, all the pics on my camera's SD card are gone
. im going to see if they are still on my laptop. if they are, i will post them.
