trip to Toluca, Mexico

Post by glrider7 »

hi All,

I live in Vancouver Canada and have a daughter who lives in Toluca, Mexico and I am trying to put a ride together with a few other bikers in late April or early May. I tried this last year and things just didn't fall into place. Not sure if I have already left this too late or not. I have put a few things ideas of what I have thought about when it comes to arranging the trip.

- I would like to get 4-5 guys for the trip preferably one who speaks Spanish
- we need how many miles we want to ride per day, how fast the group wants to ride based on who is going. I generally stay with a 10 mile over the speed limit or less. Depending on these two things will dictate on how much time we would need.
- what we want to do for accommodations on the way down ( I have a Kompact Mini Mate
trailer) but others may want to ho/motel it all the way.
- plan is to lease a house in Toluca and use it as a base for day/overnight trips
- I know a guy who is the president of a motorcycle club in Mexico who may be able to meet us for guidance/direction
- I have talked to a guy who has already done the trip plus a friend of his who loves in veracruz and it seemest the safest journey is to cross in Texas and take Hwy 57/57D pretty well down the center of Mexico.

Anyone with top or who is interested please respond.

Having a daughter who lives in Toluca, Mexico did NOT just occur by accident...

there has got to be a story behind the story....

I looked that up on the maps..... she is not all that far from Memo aka William_86 on the forums, he is on the S.E. corner of Mexico City.

Well John, the story is not as exciting as one might think lol. I met my wife while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, who just happen to already have two beautiful daughters.

Just noticed the last line of my post "Anyone with top or who is interested please respond."

It should have read something like 'anyone with any tips or is who is interested please respond"

P.S. John is that a tent trailer you have in your pic?

No, it is a wooden box built by a carpenter whom I bought it from.
32x32x16 inside dimensions. Hinge is on the front lip, uses a piece of small square tubing to hold the lid up when rummaging around in it.

holds more than I need to carry, my last big trip,
  • spare battery
spare alternator ( one I took off )
2 plastic boxes with all the screws and nuts for fairings, plastics, etc. ( left over from my big PM before the trip
    lots of bungee cords
tool kit of course, DVM, soldering iron, etc.
enough food to feed me for a week
    coats, gloves, clothing,
Battery Tender ... what if I run the battery down at night?
Battery jumper cables ( used once for a friend's bike )
Slime air compressor, the little tiny one, works great
and a lot more crap that never got used
