I'VE BEEN HOLDING OUT ON YOU

i've been testing my bounds on the Mighty ST 1300, at the end of July i made a trip up to Sault Saint Marie Michigan, it was my first long trip, i rode up on a Friday and had a headache most of Saturday, my sister Linda drove up so once there i rode in the cage with her. once home i felt i still needed time to recoup. my niece Lisa bought a new to her '93 ST 1100 back in early August, she rode it home from Indy so i asked her how was it and she said it was nice but that she still wanted a Goldwing !! now don't get me wrong cause i like Goldwings too but i don't see giving up the Mighty ST 1300 for one now all i had to do was show my niece that she didn't need one so a few weeks ago we made a trek down to Marietta, OH. here is the report

this trip was more for Lisa than for myself, i've been doing a yearly trip to marietta with cousinjeff for some years now. Friday Lisa made it to my house about 08:00 and i waisted little time getting my riding gear on, we headed out five minutes after she arrived. it was sunny but cool at 56f but still a nice morning for us to be on the bikes. i wasn't smart enough to get gas thursday so it was our first stop friday morning

we were in no hurry and wanted to stay off the expressway as much as posable so we took us-12 west and us-24 south then 125 into downtown Monroe, Mi. and made a stop along the river raisin

we continued going south on M-125 crossing the boarder into Ohio. we took O-184 east to I-75 then picked put I-280, i haven't mapped a way around to avoid the expressway through here. we took I-280 until it ended then took O-420 over to us-20 heading east, the Ohio part was mostly new to Lisa, usually we hop on I-80 and head for destinations in PA. we took us-250 down so we could pick up 60 but there is a new roundabout there and signage is bad, we ended up on 42 in Mansfield. we stopped at wendy's for a bite to eat

we decided to take us-30 east over to 60 cause i wanted Lisa to ride 60 into Marietta but once out on 30 i jumped on I-71 which took us right back to Mansfield, lets just take 13 south. well lisa was enjoying 13, it has its curvy sections but nothing like 60. now the fun begins for that ST 1100, we took 78 over to 555, two nice curvy roads. we were both getting tired from the days ride so i took 550 down to 7 then headed for Marietta, only one pic out on 555

i forgot that we made a stop for on 550 and the post office was right next door, Cutler, OH.

550 ends at 7 ( so does 555 ) so we hung a left and arrived about 17:55, i think i saw Tom Bodet there too

a few hours later we went downtown to get something to eat, this place has a few things without onions, we are alergic to onions

we parked our bikes beside the Layfette hotel and took a stroll along the Ohio river

it was back to the hotel from there so we could get some sleep for Saturdays adventure

thank you Scott, i'm still having problems with vertigo and migraine headaches and as bad as i wanted to go to the M&G i don't think i'm up for a ride covering the distance to get there just yet

i got out kind of early Saturday morning so i could get these pic's

i went back to the hotel and got lisa, we started off Saturday by riding 7 over to the local powersport dealer, lookie a yellow Monkey

we took 7 west then picked up 124, i like 124 !! we made a stop in Long Bottom

the last time i was here i was too tired to climb up to the top, i made it this time but had to take it very slow coming back down, i could feel vertigo but it went away once down

we took 124 out to us-33 and rode into Ravenswood W.VA then took route 2 over to Point Plesant W.VA, had to get lisa over to the Mothman museum

i took her on the river side of the flood wall so she could see the murals and statues

we decided to cross the two bridges out of Point Plesant back into Ohio and just run 7 back to Marietta. somehow we missed a turn and ended up on us 33. we made it to 124 then took 124 back to 7. we made a couple stops out on 7. once in Marietta we stopped for supper before making it back to the hotel

dinner is served but it wouldn't be my first choice

we got a late start leaving out Sunday morning because of me, i woke up in a sweat in my sleep and needed a shower plus time to dry off before leaving. once dry and with the bikes loaded up we rode down and crossed the bridge into W,VA, what's a trip to Marietta without a side trip into my town W,VA ??

once back in Marietta we picked up O-60, we made a stop at a mural ( i have a pic of it from years past ) and i had Lisa take a pic of it. further north we made a stop at the Magnuson river apartments better known to us as the Magnuson river hotel, lisa didn't remember the place, i blame it on the peach

up in Mc Connellsville we made a stop at the Blue Bell cafe, lisa remembered being there, see what peach does to your memory

we made a stop here in Beverly, OH. mostly because every time i come this way there is a new mural on the building

i wanted Lisa to see Mc Connellsville lock #8 but it was under construction, lisa took a bunch of pic's
