I bought a trailer wiring harness but it didn't have a diagram. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which one did you buy? I have seen several. Ones with relays, ones without.

With relays. Has an "optional" wire that goes to get power from battery but supposedly, will work without it.

Dont know if this would help, but go look at it and see. I and ordering me a AddOn with the relays for my 98 here. So hope it comes with everthing. Oh yes, I believe that the red wire will have to be used. It is the feed to the trailer lighting. The wires that you are putting on the bike will control the relays to make the trailer light funtion. This should wire in under the trunk.
This is a Add-on install sheet.
