1989 Bunkhouse

Post by echinus1988 »

I just bought a 1989 Bunkhouse trailer with the 8 X 10 screen room add on.

I still need to wire it with a 6 wire plug instead of the current 4 wire but I look forward to towing it this spring when I take a trip with my son.

That's a good looking " house " you have there, you are going to love it. Now just to add some farkles and a few comfort items and you will be all set for your adventures. 8-)
Ride safe, Todd

I feel certain that we will. My son and I have a trip planned this spring. about 2500 miles through Texas, New Mexico, Colorado. I look forward to going and having the trailer instead of the tent. Much more comfortable. I plan on putting things in to make it more comfortable.

I do need to get out the wiring diagram. I have a 4 wire plug o the bike right now but need a 6 wire plug. If anyone has any information on wiring a 1982 GL1100 Aspencade I would sure appreciate it.

Think that may actually be a 1998 Bunkhouse..not a 1989. I have a 1988 model and it did not have the extended room. It is just a basic looking unit..If you can access the storage area from inside the camper..it is of the newer type BH Camper!

That's right, I forgot that the 1988 series was set up drastically different. I'll have to check my title and see. I haven't even registered it yet, that's this weekend.

Hey...whatever the year, they are GREAT campers!! We got our in 2008 and in 2009 took a 24 day trip from Atlanta GA to Lake Tahoe, CA. We did 19 days of camping in many different state parks and National parks (Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Death Valley). Will NEVER go back to sleeping on the ground! Have fun with that BH!!

I figured I got a good deal being a 1989 in that shape. It's an even better deal being that it's an 1998! Thanks for pointing that out.

I look forward to a trip my son and I are taking in May. It should be in the area of 2500 miles total. He'll be riding my 1980 GL1100 Goldwing and I'll be on my 1982 GL1100 Aspencade towing the trailer. It will be a great trip!

Our last trip was, shall we say, WET! I won't worry as much about rain this trip. Not with the ability to sit, stand, even cook if needed in the main section.

Now, does anyone have a recommendation for a folding table that will fit in the tent area and leave room for two chairs? My current one is way too big.

One option although a bit expense is a Kermit table. Advantage is that it packs small.

or try to make one.

What size table are you looking for? We have a small collapsable table that we carry, think we got it at REI during a sale for like $19, has two cup holders and is good for sitting next to the campfire.

This is similar to ours:

Full selection from Cabela's

This is what REI has available:

And Bass Pro

Finally...EBay

Those tables are definitely what I'm looking for. Probably the 28X28 size. Not too big, not too small. I just have to look at the options and decide.

Thank you for the help!

Steve
