2015 F6B Sub Harness For Bushtec Trailer

Post by Shadow_Rider_06 »

I am buying a new Bushtec trailer with a 6 pin connection. They currently cannot find a sub harness for an F6B.

Does anyone know where I might find one? I've already tried Rivco, JP Cycles, and the most usual spots. Bushtec says the guy that makes their brand is unable to get the plugin to complete making one for me.

Here is a link showing what is required - https://bushtec.com/products/sub-harnes ... 8f8c&_ss=r

Any help is appreciated.

Touch base with user M61A1MECH (Steve) over on the GL1800 board. He makes harnesses but not sure if he has the suplies to make one for the F6B.

He's on this board as well. There is a recent Product Review regarding his harness work.

I do not know if the F6B uses a similar setup as the standard Goldwing, if it has a connector set like the Goldwing's C-31, I could probably develop a breakout harness, but it will require me to get a hold of a wiring diagram and some photos of the connectors once they are identified.

I am happy to help if I can.

I believe the connectors are different. All the large aftermarket guys list three separate parts for the trailer harness (2001-2010, 2012-2017 and F6B).

That is probably true for their approach, because they graft onto the rear lighting circuits at or near the bulb connections, some of them actually get power for the tail lights and brakes from under the trunk inner liner on the regular Goldwing, with no trunk on the F6b they have to find different places to graft on. My harness grafts on to the 14 pin C-31 connection under the seat. I am not sure if the F6B has that connection or not. If they do I sure it is also different than the regular Goldwing because that connector caries the trunk lock, unlock circuits that would not be required on the F6B.

Wouldn't the main harness part number be different between F6B & GL1800?

One might start the search by looking there...

Thanks, good suggestion.

They are indeed different, the rear combination lights appear to be identical, but have different part numbers, the wiring harness for that rear combination light is almost identical, the connector that plugs into the bike's harness is pictorially different between a standard GL and the F6B.

Again, I need photos of the connector on the Rear Combo light and a pin out of that connector to be able to help. I have had no luck finding that information, yet.

With the help of a fellow rider over on GL1800Riders, I have photos of the connector, I have located a source for the connectors and can see the wire colors well enough to determine the pin out, so in theory I can build a break out harness that will plug in behind the taillight bar and feed the isolator for the trailer harness.
If anyone is interested, I can build to suit your particular trailer needs.
PM me for details.

Thanks for trying to assist.

In the end, Bushtec found a supplier. All that I found was a card for https://electricalconnection.com/ in my paperwork.

Currently, all that I wanted was for things to work for the new trailer I bought and I didn't get into the technical specs of how they did it. As things age, I'll probably wish I knew more, but at least I have a few contacts now if I need replacements.

Bushtec and Electrical Connections have a long standing relationship, as at one time the two companies were each owned by brothers.

What I do not like about EC's set ups are;
1) They use mechanical relays and not solid state relays.
2) You have to piece together a kit from their various subassemblies to meet your needs.
3) They do not supply the trailer connector with their kit.
4) They do not supply electrical diagrams of their products, which help if you ever need to troubleshoot the system.

As long as you have what you need and it all works to your satisfaction, that is great, I am glad to hear that.

I do have a working concept for integration of my preferred isolators to the F6B if anyone else is in need of a system, just send me a PM.
