2018 Goldwing Tour DTC inoperable

Post by DHA2018Wing »

My bike dashboard indicated it would not shift into neutral or any gear (see image) in DTC or automatic modes. The engine starts but nothing more. I disconnected and reconnected the battery and checked all fuses.

Bike is at a Honda dealer who ran a diagnostic test and said it was some sensor failure but couldn’t find any documentation to resolve the issue. Now waiting for Honda to advise. Anyone experience this problem or have a solution?

Diagnostic test suggests a solenoid inhibitor malfunction. Dealer is doing more research on the problem. I will update this topic once resolved but would welcome anyone who has solved this problem

The bike is still at the dealer. It now appears that rodents love to hang out in Goldwings and crewed some wires. Not sure when I will get the bike back. One lesson make sure you have comprehensive insurance coverage because there is coverage of this type of damage.

Time to fire your cat, or at least give it a stern talking to. ;)

Bike now fixed. Comprehensive portion of insurance paid for repairs except $100 deductible. Solenoids replaced. New photos showing where wires were damaged and steps taken in the repair.

Wow. That's some serious damage for a little rodent. I keep peanut-butter baited mousetraps around my garage. Only ever saw a mouse a couple times, but can't be too careful. (the mouse I saw ate the peanut butter, and that was the last thing he ever tasted)
