Traxxion Dynamics had a customer come in with a problem, and they made a video showing what they found.

and here I have always heard that the Japanese ethic was "diligence to duty".
I think a coffee break was involved here, and when he went back to work, the forks were installed, and didn't fall off, so that was it, just button it up.

Here's what it was like when they were diagnosing it, with the loose bearing:

Why was it taken to Traxxion and not the dealer?

That's a good question. But with the known declining quality of Honda dealers, and the fact that the dealer techs have probably never even seen one of these bikes before, let alone worked on one...

I suspect that the owner did not trust the "mechanics" at any of the dealers near to him and decided to go to Traxxion Dynamics as they are well known in the suspension business.

HMM So Honda still hasn't learned to value quality parts/craftsmanship in steering system. For those not familiar, about ALL recent Goldwings sold in the last 10+ years benefit IMMENSELY from a $900 steering bearing replacement (a $50 part) ... but it is not a safety issue, therefore not a recall and clearly not something dealt with in the new model.

I don’t buy this whole story I think it’s very fishy. I believe the owner would’ve definitely taking it to a dealership. I don’t believe that the bearing races were not seated all the way it would be very easily to back off the Nut that holds these races and bearings tight and simulate this problem and who ends up looking like the hero after fixing this problem. Also I do not buy the sagging shock dilemma you’re gonna tell me American Honda after waiting to bring this bike out to the public all revamp for the last 10 years is going to produce something with that big of a problem, come on when you look at the video it doesn’t show you who sitting on the bike they said it was a 200 pound rider could’ve been two, 200 pound rider sitting on the front of the bike, the video shows you the shock not whom is on the bike. again who comes out looking like the hero? I think there’s something very wrong with the story and I’m not buying that these problems even existed on this bike I think the problem is drummed up to bring business to you know who,s shop .
Just my opinion, by the way I’ve been turning wrenches for over 40 years and this is not my first rodeo

+1 on this. The whole thing seems more like a Traxxion Dynamics ad campaign.

As for the "the fact that the dealer techs have probably never even seen one of these bikes before, let alone worked on one..." this has to be one of the first Traxxion has worked on also, or is it one they bought to develop parts for.

Of all the road test I have read and the reports from new owners on this and other forums, this Traxxion produced u-tube video is the only place I have heard anything about this problem.

I really suspect that Traxxion Dynamics, or an employee there, bought the bike specifically so they could develop parts for it...

and how better to create a demand, than to say that something is inferior?

none of the ride articles that I have read so far, mention any bad about the handling, most of them praise the why the front end is working.

In my younger day I worked for Honda at dealerships as a Tech. When new model/ Bikes come out the dealership sends some of their Techs to School the learn the new Bikes. If the bike was new as the Wing is They would extensively and go over all the new features of the bike especially the front suspension of this bike. Therefore before the bike is released to the public there is it least one tech at each dealership that knows all the new features of the new Bikes, inside and out. For traction dynamic who stated that the techs have never seen or worked on this particular bike is a very incorrect statement those techs at the Honda dealers definitely know that bike very well, before it sold to the public

Interesting videos - good information. Surprised that Honda is still using that type of bearing for the steering and not tapered bearings and races. Must fit the bill. As for the check, I would imagine that these bikes are similar to others where you bring it in for the first servicing soon after buying it say 1000 miles or so. Some bikes will be fine, some will need to be tuned up, and some may not get to the servicing interval before needing attention.

Cheers
