I had the CB installed and I have problems with how much volume control was engineered into the CB. I have a J & M bluetooth set and I have it max out. I have the CB maxed out at 20 on the bike and while cruising I can barely understand the spoken word on the CB. HONDA elected to restrict the CB to 20 on the volume scale but all other volumes for radio i-pod (music) it was set at 30 on the volume scale. I have hearing aids and must remove them for riding or otherwise the back ground noise to so amplified that I can't understand the radio let alone the CB.
I contacted HONDA and was told that they have annotated my concern. I am surprised that Honda elected to match the old gl1800 volume for radio but elected to lower the spoken word on the CB.
Does anyone else out there share my dilemma?

Re: CB radio volume
I have the same issue. My dealer and Honda are aware.
According to my riding buddies, the CB transmits just fine, perhaps even over-modulating a bit, which would *seem* to eliminate a bad antenna as the problem's source.
Has anyone else had/solved this problem?
And, just out of curiosity, how many of y'all actually put the CB radio on your 18-up GW?

I'm just curious, are you having the problem hearing the CB over the external speakers or the head set?

Re: CB radio volume
For me, it doesn't matter. Sierra Electronics suggested a larger set of speakers for the headsets, which helped a bit, but not enough to make headset CB audio loud enough to hear voice. Haven't done anything with fairing speakers.
New this week: Installed new updates on both the Honda audio system and the J&M Bt-04 headset. Confirmed successful updates, per version numbers on dash. No apparent effect on max CB volume. Open to suggestions...

Re: CB radio volume
I have the JM blu hub corded adaptor that I use my corded headsets with on my 2020 DCT tour. My CB volume is set at 10 and its loud and clear. Has to be something in the bluetooth settings of your headset.

Re: CB radio volume
Thanks for the feedback Jimmy, but I think I have to disagree with you. In my situation, I have low volume not only thru the headset, but also thru the fairing speakers. That's with the CB volume on the bike at it's max. I have the headset's volume set at its max, per J&M's published instructions, and listen to *all* other audio at normal levels without problems.
That you're having no issues with your CB volume tells me that I *may* have an issue with the CB itself. It'd be handy if I had another 18+ w/CB close by to experiment with, but unfortunately nobody else that I know of locally has taken the plunge. Unfortunately (ahem) since everyone in my riding group/chapter is in the wheelhouse for C19, there isn't a whole lot of riding (or bike buying, for that matter) going on so it may be a while before anything actually happens.
Thanks again.
