2018 Wing Trunk Rack damper installation

Post by WingVetteGSXR »

Trying to install the accessory trunk rack dampers. Absolutely can not get the last pin to line up through the hinge and through the damper rod end hole. Have tried installing pins in different order, have tried compressing the damper (takes lots of force) and no luck. The holes in the hinge and the damper rod end are off by about a millimeter or two.
Anyone with the same experience? Am almost ready just to put the OEM weaker dampers back in.

Well..... Frustration got the better of me and I did some redneck/hillbilly modifications by filing down 1-2mm of hinge plastic. Really dumb I know, but I had tried everything, levering the opening with a flat tip, compressing the shock, etc. I know, but sometimes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
