1200 miles on the clock. Just noticed a nail in my back tire. No idea how long it's been there. No TPMS light. Pulled the nail out and all the air came with it. Ordered a new tire.
Hope to have it Friday.

Re: New rear tire
Just got the tire off. It took longer to get the needed tools ready than it did to take it off.
Two bolts on the license plate panel/rear fender, two bolts on the cross bar, one bolt on the exhaust pipe shield and five lug nuts.
Took all of ten minutes. I wonder how much a Honda shop is going to charge for this?

My son is going to enjoy it for many years to come.
Re: New rear tire
if it was a nail, why not plug it and use up the tread?

Re: New rear tire
Back in 98, my wife and I were on a trip on the 1500 in Montana. During a lane change at 70mph on the interstate, the back of the bike began to swing back and forth eventually depositing us in the ditch (ouch). Had a plugged rear tire that failed. Never again. My life is worth the $250.00 for a new tire. Some folks are fine with a plugged tire, just not me.

Re: New rear tire
I agree. I'm OK with a plugged tire on a car that is not too close to the outer edge, where I still have three more tires left. But on a bike, a plugged tire is used only to get me somewhere that I can replace the tire.
