2018 steering lock
I have a 2018 B 6 speed. Following the user manual I try to lock the steering. The small lock pin under the handlebar yolk advances into position but I then get an alarm beep and the pin immediately retracts so the steering lock will not stay engaged. I sat on the bike and tried this wiggling the handle bars a little off the full left position several times. The bars will lock in place for a couple seconds so I know the lock pin is engaged but it retracts again nearly immediately. Frustrating after reading the manual p55 several times and trying a dozen attempts with the bars to the left and right hand sides. Anyone else experience this? Perhaps my bike got the low IQ computer!

Perhaps the dealership can shed some light on this for you.

Re: 2018 steering lock
Thanks All for responding on the steering lock,
I called my dealer in Jacksonville FL and they also said they would need to run codes. I just tried disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds to force the system to reset as a shot in the dark. This had no effect and it is probably a sensor problem. So off to the dealer as soon as I can. I will post back if anything interesting is found.

Re: 2018 steering lock
So on the steering lock issue honda contacted the dealer and had them reset the ecu. That did not fix or change anything. The next step will be a check of the wiring and possible replacement of the lock mechanism. There are some ideas that the ecu is not seeing the lock engaged signal and therefore times out and defaults back to unlocked. This would make sense. I will likely return it to the dealer again after the Christmas break.

Re: 2018 steering lock
There is a 10 pin connector between the esl unit and smart control. I got to that and unplugged it and plugged it back in and the steering lock works fine now. Wierd
