Lost KEY and lost FOB
Hello All. Would need help here. I have lost the whole bunch of my key to my Honda Gold Wing 1800 2018 model.
The code was attached with the key and its lost now. I was told to purchase new Smart unit and another control,
Anyone have been through this?
Need help to go riding again

It sounds as though things are going to get VERY expensive. Could the dealer possibly track the numbers down using your VIN#?

Hello minimac. Thank you for your reply. Actually I m located oversea and my bike from USA.
Unfortunately I lost the whole bunch, inclusive the codes.
No dealer here knows how to solve. Need help from US technical.
What do I need to change? Any manual?

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
Thank you Coppertone. Good video to duplicate FOB.
The problem is that, we lost the old FOB and all the codes.
We bought the new FOB, Smart Control unit and Front control unit. But cant proceed to switch the bike on.
Any other parts needed?
Anyone have a copy page from the service manual for changing FOB (to replace new FOB)?

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
Perhaps you might want to buy a second fob, program it once the first one is working, and then lock that fob away in case you ever lose the first one again...

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
Where is Honda in all this.
When they came up with this system somebody, we hope, said “We need a procedure for when a customer loses his/her key fob and codes, it’s a scenario that is bound to happen and the customer may not have access to a Honda dealer”.
Or is that too much to expect?

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
Clearly you need to contact Honda directly. With proof of ownership. Everyone should take a picture of their key fob tag and keep it in their phone and on whatever web photo hosting site they use.

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
Before you start replacing parts, might I recommend something?
If I understood the previous posts correctly, you brought the bike over from the USA, right?
You *might* be able to get the original fob's code from the US dealer that originally sold the bike. If they sold it to you, they should remember you and be willing to work with you. It's worth a shot...
Disclaimer: I'm no expert, and none of this may end up working. You're dealing with the bike's security system, after all.
With all that said, good luck...
I'm looking at section 23 of the shop manual (Honda Smart Key System).
* I see on page 23-19 a registration procedure for when all the fobs were lost, but it needs that code from the original key. No code - no joy.
* The next page (23-20) is a registration procedure for when the smart control unit is replaced. It says that the ID number from the lost fob should be confirmed for security purposes, but it doesn't seem to require it.
The procedure from then on seems to be similar to registering an additional fob, but note that it is *not* identical.
Here's a summary of the steps, once the new control units have been replaced...
1.Turn new fob on. Note that this *has* to be a *new* fob - a fob previously registered to another bike cannot be registered to a different one.
2. Connect SCS service connector (070PZ-ZY30100, or a jumper wire if you *really* know what you're doing)
3. Turn ignition switch clockwise - listen for one beep (Note - it may not be very loud-I had to strain to hear it when I added fobs earlier this year).
4. Press the pocket open switch the same number of times as the first digit of the ID number (presumably the new one!), then press the starter switch and listen for one beep.
5. Enter digits 2-9 as per step 4.
6. Push the left saddlebag open switch and open the left bag.
7. Wait one second, then disconnect the SCS service connector.
8. Register the TPMS sensor (page 26-11)
Registration failure: If the ESL indicator lights after step 7, try again from step 1.

Thboyd29. Great information. Certainly will try. Am trying to get the code from dealer.
This will teach a good lesson for us to keep information safely.

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
When I took delivery, my dealer wrote the fob's code on margin of the Honda owner's card that I got as part of the delivery paperwork. That might be worth a quick look too, along with a quick look at all your other delivery paperwork, if you still have it.

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
OK this is an old tread but here goes my input. I am bidding on a salvage unit now and in talking to the local Honda dealer here is the proceedure. I have no keys, no code and no fob so the dealer hooks up to the computer on the bike pulls the code and then programs the fobs and keys all together. Seems pretty straightforward and probably only costs a few thousand dollars
I am sure it will be hundreds but then again when you buy this way there is plenty of room for spending.

have to replace the smart control and ESL (Electric Steering Lock) units on the bike, along with maybe the lock cylinder for the new emergency key, before you can program new fobs. You *might* luck into the code if the selling dealer still has a record of it. Good luck!

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
I like the theif thing but I am not into politics
I have no doubt the code can be pulled from the ECM however a smart contol is only $365 and I can get this bike for under 8k so there is room for this. I doubt I would worry about the steering lock as I have never locked one yet.
I am older and have better insurance

Re: Lost KEY and lost FOB
Update - I purchased a blank then found the key code and from there was able to get 2 good keys made. the bike was perfect except for a small hole in the bottom of the engine which was super easy to fix with some panel bond adhesive and a tin patch. I sold the bike with a warranty and the new owner has put several thousand miles on it and its perfect.
