2018 Wing Navigation

Post by Big Red Bertha »

Can someone advise a good descriptive video on downloading routes into the 2018 nav. system. Setting up stopping (waypoints) points. I would like to know if you can set it up where it will tell you the distance and time to each waypoint.

Did you look in the 2018-2020 gl1800 section at the bottom of the main page?

Is your desire something the stock system is designed to do? Or just what you want?

I want to know if the nav. system can enter waypoints (stopping points) and then set the program to tell you how far it is to each waypoint and time to get there.

If you import routes via the usb, the screen will tell you the distance to the next 2 or 3 waypoints, and IIRC the distance as well as the estimated total time and mileage to final destination. Don't know about adding it directly from the nav as I never do it that way.

I saw a YouTube video today by a GW 2018+ rider.
He uses Rever app to create routes with way points.
Once he is happy with his routes, he saves them to thumb drive and uploads them into his Wing Nav.
Sorry, I can't remember the name of the YT poster.

Also, this video is using Honda Trip Planner

I have created routes in Google Maps and then used this site to convert the route into a gpx file. I don't have my Wing yet (due in about 10 days), but have downloaded the resultant gpx files into my 7-year old Garmin and they seem to work OK.
