seat shipping advice

Post by pedropedro »

Going to send off the seat (DCT Tour 2019) for a more comfortable modification. The shipping costs that I have estimated are not "friendly" to say the least. Anyone have any advice on the best way to ship the seat at the lowest cost?

It's really going to depend on the size of the package, the weight, where you are, and where you're sending it to.

I suspect that it's going to be too large and heavy for USPS to accept. From my experience, you're likely going to find that UPS will be your cheapest option.

Shipping is expensive. Shipping large or heavy things is REALLY expensive.

I bought a seat precovid off of another member and in my neighborhood UPS was the best option. USPS was just too expensive and FedEx really wasnt an option. Precovid was about $78.00 . From what I understand now unless you have a business account with some of the shippers your cost is going to be about $150.00 to ship it. Youre really between a rock and a hard place. I shipped some stuff to my grandkids in November and got raped by USPS. They quote you a standard price and then they get out the tape measure and then you can get out your KY as here it comes and be prepared. As for a box go to U-Haul and get a box closest to the seat size and then pack it with Foam peanuts around the seat for protection. Since covid hit everyones taken advantage of the situation and all you can do is shop around and see what you can come up with.

I have never tried this but I have heard over the years that it is a good way to go.

Large packages have been successfully sent by bus. Here is a link to Greyhound Package express: https://www.shipbybus.com/shipgreyhound/instant-quote/

It's an option you could try.
