2018 Goldwing Tour DTC inoperable
My bike dashboard indicated it would not shift into neutral or any gear (see image) in DTC or automatic modes. The engine starts but nothing more. I disconnected and reconnected the battery and checked all fuses.
Bike is at a Honda dealer who ran a diagnostic test and said it was some sensor failure but couldn’t find any documentation to resolve the issue. Now waiting for Honda to advise. Anyone experience this problem or have a solution?

Diagnostic test suggests a solenoid inhibitor malfunction. Dealer is doing more research on the problem. I will update this topic once resolved but would welcome anyone who has solved this problem

The bike is still at the dealer. It now appears that rodents love to hang out in Goldwings and crewed some wires. Not sure when I will get the bike back. One lesson make sure you have comprehensive insurance coverage because there is coverage of this type of damage.

Time to fire your cat, or at least give it a stern talking to.

Bike now fixed. Comprehensive portion of insurance paid for repairs except $100 deductible. Solenoids replaced. New photos showing where wires were damaged and steps taken in the repair.DHA2018Wing wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 4:51 pm Update: Bike apart; crewed wire found in challenging spot to repair…WIRES ARE CHEWED DOWN TO THE NUB OF THE CLUTCH COVER, NEED GASKETS, SOLENOIDS AND WIRE REPAIR

Wow. That's some serious damage for a little rodent. I keep peanut-butter baited mousetraps around my garage. Only ever saw a mouse a couple times, but can't be too careful. (the mouse I saw ate the peanut butter, and that was the last thing he ever tasted)

Bear with me. It will come out. My daughter has a 2018 Honda CRV. She recently had two tires replaced under road hazard. The charge of $350 was covered by the road hazard policy so no harm no foul. Two day s later she hit the remote start and nothing happens. Gets in and manually starts the car but it only idles. Dealership send a tow truck and the next morning send her a picture of "rodent chewed wires" and it would be $350 to repair. I won't describe what follows except to say that dad had to get an auto transport and tow it to our mechanic, whom we trust. Next day he confirms it was a rodent after he spliced and shrunk wrapped the wires. In the meantime mom found something about a class action law suit in the works against automakers.
I seems that in their desire to make the tree hugging climate fanatics happy they are now using a SOY BASED INSULATION FOR AUTOMOTIVE WIRING! Sounds like a rodent attractant to me; FREE LUNCH. Their solution: Buy a foil wire wrap for you cars wires. So they know that its an issue and they are not acknowledging it. Not the automakers, the dealers or the greenies.
Maybe that's why the rodent got to your wiring so quick. In my daughters condo unit there are two residents that leave their vehicles unused for long periods and have never had a rodent issue. DUH
I am about to be buying a 21 Golding DCT (I know its an automatic) and I am going to look into this.
