Windshield not coming up

Post by baumedagn »

I have something a little strange going on with my 2019 DCT Tour. For some reason, my windshield will not come up to the set point when I start the bike.
I know that it normally raises once I start moving. But when this happens, the only way to get it where it was is to shut the bike off, turn it on and raise the windshield, then start the bike. It seems to happen randomly and will start working correctly on it's own.

Mine doesn't move until the bike starts rolling, it parks when the switch is turned to off.

Xfyrfiter, you are correct. However, for some reason mine quit doing that.

Well, it turned out to be the battery. We took a little 200 mile ride, came home and put the bike on the tender. The red light was on which was strange. After riding that far, it should have been charged up. I checked it with a voltmeter and it only was showing about 11.4 volts. I let the tender bring it up over night and checked it again and found that while it would still start the bike, it dropped to almost 10 volts.

Apparently, I only thought the new battery solved the issue. We rode a little this past Saturday and everything worked as it should. On Sunday, not so much. When I went to leave the house, the windshield not to return to the set position. I had to stop the bike, shut it off, turn it back on and raise the windshield to where I wanted it. The next time I shut the bike off, the same thing happened. Not that this is the end of the world or anything but it should work properly.

OK, so after much research, I've finally found the fix. The windshield has "lost its place" in the travel up and down. To correct this turn the bike on without starting it and raise the windshield to its full up position. While still holding the button up, turn the bike off. Turn the bike on again without starting it and the windshield should return to the lower position. This will reset the travel memory.
