Revers and cruise

My 2001 gl1800 ABS wing cruise and reverse both quit working at same time. While riding all good till stopped for break, when restarting, the reverse light flashing and won't engage, also now cruise control won't lock in.

The service manual has quite a few pages on this but basically they are telling you to check the wires and solenoids for proper connection. I would start with the handle bar assembly. Clean the switch and check connections. The cruise issue is probably related to the reverse problem so once that is fixed the cruise should work.
