Windshield
Stopped in a Honda dealership and looked at a new 2021 goldwing. I currently ride a 2016 goldwing. I noticed a few changes but the one I most interested in was the change in the windshield design. I was wondering in what people liked and disliked about it and if the helmet buffeting was reduced or eliminated from the change.

Re: Windshield
I went from a 16 to a 21. I was very impressed with how a small windshield could deflect the wind but through design changes and extra deflectors they have done it. There is a slight bit more wind but not objectionable. I like the ease of lowering the shield at lower speeds to get that wind in the face feeling.

Re: Windshield
The latest generation Goldwing is quite a machine and has several new features over the previous version.
The split windshield is actually available for your bike. Both Madstad and Windbender make them with the windbender also having electric adjustment available. Not to discourage you from buying a new bike but certainly an alternative. I have the Madstad and Baker Wind Wings and am pleased with the adjustments I can make.

Re: Windshield
It is extremely effective and all buffeting disappears. I’m pissed I bought a high end helmet to reduce buffeting! You’ll love it.

'02 GL1800 lives in Dawsonville, GA now.
My son is going to enjoy it for many years to come.
Re: Windshield
I have a MADSTAD on my 2002 gl1800, and really like how you can vary the effects on your body, or lack there of.
down low and tilt it back, gets lots of wind in your face and chest.
straight up and midway, still way below your eyeline, no wind on you at all.
no rain drops either.

Re: Windshield
I have a klockwerks windshield on it now and it isn’t that impressive to me. Not bad at lower speeds but at highway speeds it doesn’t cut it. I know I will be changing to something else but don’t know what yet. A person could end up spending a lot of money on different windshields if he just went on the manufactures hype on good they are. I appreciate the comments I been getting riders personal experience with different ones.

Re: Windshield
The windshield was not a major factor in my decision. the DCT and the double wishbone front end were the main factors that convinced me as well as the lack of engine/transmission noise. The electronics are greatly improved but are still somewhat disappointing but at least I can use my bluetooth, phone and sxm simultaneously without too much extra effort. The disappointment is compared to the system in my Ford F350. Seamless carplay and bluetooth and no waiting for the headset to pair before plugging in the iphone for carplay plus I haven’t been able to talk to text yet.
