Goldstrike grip Installation

I have a new 2021 GW Tour DCT. I bought the Goldstrike grips even before getting the bike as I knew the stock grips fell too small/wimpy. My issue is I cannot remove the stock end dampers. When I attempt to unscrew the phillips end screws they don't loosen but merely spin. What am I doing wrong? Or, is it possible my inner weights are just spinning because they are not locked into handle correctly?

Have you tried an impact wrench? That will often back out fasteners from spinning parts. It looks like the weights are only held in by rubber rings.
