Emergency and built in keys

Post by GoldWing808 »

When I get my 2019 DCT, it had just the one fob, with the built in key. No spare fob or emergency key, and no emergency code.

Taking to the forums, and having ordered a new fob and emergency key from Honda in Lake Villa, IL, I can update a few things I’ve seen here. The fob itself, which is programmed to the bike, has the ridiculous emergency bypass code. Not the bike. I was able to prove ownership to Mother Honda (Honda North America), and they’re also going to retrieve the original code. However, the key I ordered looked the first picture and the key I received (which was from Honda’s website) was the second one. What do your emergency keys (not the fob key) look like, has anyone else gotten one that looks like a standard Honda ignition key?

Admittedly, the black key makes turning it in the left pannier opener much easier.

I don’t know if somebody already told you but all Honda 2018 or newer Goldwing emergency keys have exactly the same cut. The two key fobs and keys in this image one is the original key that came with the motorcycle. The second key is the one I ordered later. You can see that my two emergency keys match your second key. I presume the Blankey you have also opens your trunk

doors.

Yeah the built in fob keys are all good but that blade key is the secret key that’s kept hidden on the bike, and that’s what I was asking about. But I just keep the spare at home. I live on an island, so I’m never more than a half hour drive away.
