So last night I parked my bike in the usual spot in my driveway. The driveway has a slight incline of about 1 foot per 25 feet (for winter drainage). As usual I pulled in, set the parking brake and turned the ignition off.
Today the bike would not start. Being not quite alert, I repeated the process three times. Then I looked at the dash and noticed the transmission was in first gear. I powered down, released the parking brake, let the bike roll a tad then powered up. It shifted into neutral and when I hit the switch it fired right up.
I have now changed my parking procedure to stopping, shift in to neutral, set parking brake, lower side stand and shut down. First restart went fine.
