does not return to mode after calibration
I've done the calibration for the DCT many times before, but this time it failed to return to the Mode (Tour usually) after completion. I've tried redoing the calibration. It goes through the sequences and returns to Neutral, but the mode does not return.
Any ideas?

Re: does not return to mode after calibration
During DCT calibration process, the dash ("-") symbol should be blinking slowly (every 2 seconds), and the "D" indicator should be on. If the calibration process fails, the dash will be blinking fast (twice per second) to indicate an error.
So if the process was executed and the dash does not blink fast but returns to "N" and the "D" indicator turned off, and everything else is normal (no other warning lights on), I would assume all went ok.
Do you notice any difference in driving behaviour? I do the DCT initialization process only when I feel rough clutch behaviour, and after the process it is much better.

Re: does not return to mode after calibration
Thanks for the response. No difference in driving behavior, I just can't see what mode I'm in. I have retried calibration several times to no avail. I posted here because I'm out of ideas short of a dealerhsip ($$$) visit.

Re: does not return to mode after calibration
Are you saying that the Mode (Tour, Sport...) does not display at all? Not just after the calibration cycle, but even after the turning the Goldwing off and on (normal mode, not calibration mode)?
Now that looks indeed not normal.
Only thing I would try before going to make an appointment is disconnecting the battery completely, letting it rest for 10minutes and re-connect again.
And/or try first a system reset in the menu.

Re: does not return to mode after calibration
That's correct.
Calibrate.
The dashes remain in the mode area.
Turn off bike for an hour.
Dashes remain.
Ride bike about 20 miles.
Dashes remain.
Turn off bike.
Turn on bike... dashes remain.
Runs fine... I just have to guess what mode I'm in.

Time to plug in a laptop and quiz the computer.
See the snowflake thread.

Yes, sir. I read the snowflake thread before I posted.

Re: does not return to mode after calibration
If you think the calibration sequence did not complete, disconnect the battery for a few minutes, and retry the calibration procedure. Be sure that the rear tire does not spin, and most important, make sure the battery connections are clean and tight, and that the battery has been tested by a powersprots dealer. Another thing that is being learned as time goes on is the importance of having a correct battery. The spec is a 20amp/hr one.

Re: does not return to mode after calibration
Thanks. I'm doing the battery tomorrow. It should be fine as it was recently replaced by the dealership. I'll let you know if the hard reset works.
I appreciate the feedback.

Please post back about the battery test too. In the powersport world, having a new battery only means that the battery is new. It does not prove it's worth of being in your Wing.

Re: does not return to mode after calibration
I'm sorry it took so long to get back to everyone. Life gets in the way sometimes.
I disconnected the battery, waited 15 minutes, reconnected the battery, took a short ride to warm the oil, did the calibration process... and nothing. Still just 4 dashes where the mode should be. I may try it again (sometimes my persistence pays off) this coming week, but I don't have my hopes up at all.
