I wanted to make the gas door operate without having to open the right side cubby, but didn't want to drill holes, and wanted to be able to go back to original if I changed my mind. I found a couple of sources for push to open latches. The ones showing on Amazon are several millimeters bigger than what I wanted. I have included a link to the smaller size latch that I used. I used mounting tape to secure the latch and push pin in place. It took 2 tries to get the location I wanted. Due to the uneven curvature of the opening, I had to use a couple of layers near the top of the latch. Because the latch needs 1/8” to actuate, I removed the rubber bumper on the left side to make it easier. There is always the chance that this will give someone an idea for a better solution.

Re: push to open gas door latch
I like the LARGE PRINT calipers. Didn't know Mitutoyo made something like that, I could use them.
