Sorry you took it that way.phoenixtubs wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 7:58 amYou don't need to take pictures on my account, I'm sure there are better ways for you to get grins and giggles. I've gotten a lot of help on this forum and I thought I would try to return the favor, just had a hunch the locksmith I use might be able to track it down. I think instead I am complicating matters. Good luck.

Re: hondaline luggage keys
I have finally achieved success on getting duplicate keys for my Hondaline saddlebags for my '81 GL1100! I will post photos of my original key (#431) and the duplicates made with an "ilco D1098X DE4" blank. (NOTE: OEM blanks for this key proved to be impossible for me to find. I'm not saying they don't exist, but I sure could not find them) I had 3 duplicates made for a total of $12.90 at Golden Bear Lock & Safe. Their address is 7445 Daron Ct., Plain City, OH 43064. 614-722-5625, ask for Lori. (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm EST) They are really, REALLY great!
Just FYI, another company (Bill [mailto:sales@keys4urride.com] ) said he could make me "1 key cut and shipped 1st Class Mail $13.00 2 keys cut $20.00". He said he would use an "ilco K1122D BN1" blank. I went with Golden Bear Lock & Safe because they are local to me, AND much less expensive! (I am told I'm very frugal/cheap)
I really hope this helps somebody else out there who is still looking for key blanks and/or needs duplicates. I can finally hit the road knowing I'll be able to open my bags, and remove/replace them even if the original key (now in my safe) is ever lost or destroyed. Ride hard or stay home!

Are they able to duplicate the keys based only on the number or did they need the key in hand ?DiverDavePMP wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 9:29 amI have finally achieved success on getting duplicate keys for my Hondaline saddlebags for my '81 GL1100! Re: hondaline luggage keys
They needed the key in hand. I also left one of my saddlebags with them to test the duplicates with. If you have an original, I'm sure your local locksmith could duplicate it now that we know the blank to use. ("ilco D1098X DE4") If you do not have an original key, then maybe your local locksmith could use the lock itself and the blank ("ilco D1098X DE4") to make a duplicate?
I just know this ilco blank worked for me. The other company (Bill [mailto:sales@keys4urride.com] ) said he could make me "1 key cut and shipped 1st Class Mail $13.00 2 keys cut $20.00". He said he would use an "ilco K1122D BN1" blank and could work directly from the images I sent him. (Those images are the ones with the quarter for scale) However, I did not use him, so no guarantees there.
