There are many who have run with just a straight pipe, loud but functional and with no damage. You could mount some small Harley slip ons,that will sound just as loud and depending upon your state's regulations still pass inspection requirements.

Yes, wings are very forgiving regarding exhaust, but do not mess with the intake or plan on doing jet work.
