Well , I'm stumped! Getting clouds of blue grey smoke on start up. Taking ages to clear. I it's running lumpy and uneven as hell. The bikes been standing for a few months on my drive with a cover on. Would it now be the carbs that I should be looking at? I set the screws on each to two turns out like I have read someplace. But it will start from cold but once warm it won't even fire. Replaced so far; coils for 3 ohm dynas, breakers for dyna s, manifold o rings, ht leads and caps for dyna leads with non resistor caps. I've checked timing,(static) all good, I've checked valves all good. The carbs were balanced last August when running . Would a bad battery cause all this or am I dreaming? Any suggestions would be great . Thanks in advance.

If it was left on the side stand for a couple of months, perhaps the oil has drained down onto that side. The reason why it could be running lumpy is because it has a little too much oil mixed in. Take it for a long drive, and try some fresh fuel.

blue smoke = oil, black smoke=fuel, white smoke = water

Definitely not oil. It's dead on the mark and has been everytime I've started it. It is a rich fuel smoke. But I'm going to pull carbs and clean as not done it yet.really don't think it's ever been done. Thanks for info.

The dyna 3 needs good voltage, so be sure it is getting at least 12V at idle. But I tend to agree your carbs may be the issue.
