Hey everyone, I hope you have all been riding with the weather being near perfect.
Now, here is my question....I have my bike (79 GL1000) is idling well, running smoothingly through the rpms, BUT, when I lean it over to place it on the kickstand, it bogs and dies. Is it flooding out a carb on the left side, the side being tilted towards? Anyone else experience this. I read that I should park it on the center stand in the garage and over a period of time, but just running around town, I use the kickstand.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Stalling when leaning onto kickstand
Using the center stand for extended (or even overnight) parking, is to prevent oil from migrating to the left cylinders which results in smoke from burning oil upon start up.
Regarding your issue of 'bogging' and 'dying' if you put the bike over on the kick stand while at idle. It's a carb related issue and, before getting into it, when's the last time your sync'd your carbs? Start with the basics and do a sync. Once you know that's done and your idle is correct, move on to other issues such as sticking floats, etc. For now, basics first.

I too agree with Placerville. How quickly does it die. If slowly, then perhaps it has a float issue?

My 77 used to die on left turns. I turned out to be loose rivets inside the ignition switch contacts. When I replaced it, you could wiggle the copper tabs on the old one.

thanks for that info, my neighbor just told me about a kill-switch that he just found out about on his bike...I don't know if Goldwing had this kind of sophistication on a 79, but worth checking into i guess.
I will research the ignition and wiring....thanks for the tip
